• 清理插件列表，升级所有再用插件到最新版本。
• 不再使用 Gallery + WordPress Gallery2 来管理图片。主要是因为 Gallery 的图片上传太复杂了，插入图片到文章中也比较慢。但是上述组合的功能仍然是最强大的。
• 等待 Fauna 主题发布支持 WordPress 2.3 的 1.0 版本。
• 将针对现有主题的修改（如增加的 Google Adsense 代码）更新到新版本的 Fauna 去。
• 备份现有 Blog 目录

因为准备工作做的充分，并且我本来就是使用 SVN 安装的 WordPress 2.1.3，所以升级过程十分方便和顺利。直接使用以下命令即可：


svn sw http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress/tags/2.3/


然后再进入 WP 管理后台升级一下数据库即可。此版本的 WP 已经不需要再手动修改 wp-includes/wp-db.php 文件以正确显示 UTF-8 编码的中文了。

本来官方站点上只能下载到 RC1 版本，而这个版本我使用的时候不能在后台更新主题的选项，一更新就会出现 “Object of class ThemeToolkit could not be converted to string in $FILE_NAME” 的错误，而且整个站点再也显示不了了。后来搜啊搜啊，结果作者在其 Google 讨论区透露了最新的 RC2 版本下载地址，果然 RC2 没有问题了，不直接提供下载地址了，有需要的自己去看吧。然后稍微修改了一下侧边栏的显示，有空再慢慢更新。

这个主题我个人的感觉过于刺眼了，虽然作者非常大方的提供了背景图片的源文件，可惜我的电脑里面没有 Photoshop，只能等回国的时候再修改了。

终于，今天将我的 Blog 程序 WordPress 升级到了最新的 2.1 版本。按照官方升级指南完成，这里还有一份中文升级指南。

升级只需要运行一下 wp-admin/upgrade.php 就可以了，不过升级还是会有一些问题：

1. 如果完全按照官方升级指南，则在升级前是需要 Deactive 所有插件的。不过如果你现在使用的主题模板的文件里面调用了插件提供的函数的话，升级是会失效的。
2. 2.1 版本仍然没有解决读取数据库乱码的问题，所以仍然需要修改 wp-includes/wp-db.php 文件，在第 53 行处加上：
   $this->query(”SET NAMES ‘utf8′”);
3. 由于在 2.1 版本中，友情链接 (Blogroll) 功能做了很大的修改，对应的数据库结构也改变了，一些字段被去除，所以以前的按链接类别显示所有链接的代码会失效。但是 WordPress 已经提供了新的函数来实现这样的功能：wp_list_bookmarks()
4. 有关我以前说的通过修改某些 WordPress 文件来实现增大上传图片的所略图的默认大小的功能，在 2.1 版本中，wp-admin/inline-uploading.php 文件不再存在，我试验过如果仅仅修改 wp-admin/admin-functions.php 是不够，因此如何在 WordPress 2.1 中实现同样的功能，还需要进一步研究。

[UPDATE 2007-04-01] OK，今天有空来研究下 WP 2.1 里面的上传图片函数了，原来现在只需要修改 admin-functions.php 里面的两处代码就可以了。参见压缩包里的文件：

附我的 WordPress 的相关选项：

要想更改缩略图的长宽值，首先需要修改 wp-admin/inline-uploading.php 这个文件，找到下面一段代码：

将其中的宽度值 128 和长度值 96 改成你喜欢的值，最好保持 4:3 的比例。

但是，当你想重新编辑一个“多语言”日志项时，你需要重新插入”lang_xx”代码到文字中去，显然这样会比较麻烦。你最好一次编辑好所有的问题。

However, I’ve found one disadvantage(or bug?) of this plugin: if you want to edit your “multi-languaged” entry you have saved it before, you have to re-insert the “lang_xx” code to your words again, that may be bother somebody.

I don’t know yet wether this issue is ralted to the WP’s version I used. (Update: It should be because of the bug of WSYSG editor)

Anyway, it’s a so cool plugin!
