Mozilla 在北京时间2006年10月25日在主页上宣布 Firefox 2.0 发布了。

由于之前 Mozilla FTP 上的 Firefox 2.0 的链接地址已经泄漏出来，使得大量用户在 Mozilla 正式发布之前就已经使用上了 Firefox 2.0， 这使得 Firefox 的开发者有些不快，因为如果有用户直接从 FTP 下载 Firefox 的安装文件，将使得管理员无法更新这些文件，更详细的报道见这里。

继 IE7 之后，Mozilla 终于发布了 Firefox 2.0 Final 版本。虽然 Mozilla.com 主页上还没有消息，但是 Mozilla 的服务器上已经有了各种语言的 Firefox 2.0 版本，地址是这里。我下载了英文版本的，简单装了一下。

首先觉得默认的界面没有以前好看了。另外 Tab Mix Plus 插件目前还不支持 Firefox 2.0，可能部分人还是倾向于使用老版本。如果 Mozilla 在发布 2.0 版本之前和 TMP 的作者协商一下，使得 TMP 的版本跟上 Firefox 的脚步岂不更好？

在 Mozilla Firefox 官方 Wiki 上一篇名为 Firefox/Feature Brainstorming 的文章向我们展示了未来 Firefox 想提供的特性，当然并不是所有的特性都会在 Firefox 3 中实现。我个人比较期待的特性有：

Add-on management

• Allow user to disable plugins via “about:plugins”, Options/Prefs, or Extensions
• Export/Import of Addons Information
• Have “Extension Packs” available for download immediately upon completing a Firefox install (also see “Installer” notes) [这是否意味着以后不需要一个个插件的去寻找了？]

Tabs

• Improved UI for finding and reopening any one or more closed tabs
• Allow relative opening of Tabs, i.e. child tabs open next to parent tab in opening order (and not at the end of Tab bar)
• etc. [ Tab 相关的更改很多，到时候很多 Tab 有关的 Extension 要没用了。]

Browser Window

• Allow ‘drag & drop’ of links anywhere on the browser window (not just the tab bar) to open the link in a new background tab
• Allow ‘drag & drop’ of selected text on a web page anywhere on the browser window to conduct search on the selected text using the default search engine and opening the search results in a new background tab
